Ghanaian journalists join colleagues worldwide to mark Press Freedom Day

The Ghana Journalists Association is hosting a public lecture Wednesday to mark World Press Freedom Day.

The event, which took place at the International Press Centre in Accra is under the theme “Ghana Still in Search of Right to Information and Broadcasting Laws; Is Parliament in a Dilemma”.

According to GJA President Affail Monney, speakers included  Majority Leader in Parliament, Osei Kyei Mensah- Bonsu, Minister of Information, Mustapha Hamid and National Media Commission Chairman, Kwesi Gyan Apenteng.

World Press Freedom Day celebrates the fundamental principles of press freedom and pays tribute to journalists who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

The Global theme for the day is ‘Critical Minds for Critical Times: Media’s Role in Advancing Peaceful, Just and Inclusive Societies’.
