Kumasi shoe makers recue bear footed pupils

About 200 pupils of the Nyame Na Osey Primary School, a farming community in the Adansi North District of the Ashanti region have been rescued from going to school bare footed by Shoe Makers Association at the Kumasi Central Market, Poultry Yard branch when they donated 300 pair of sandals to them.

The only school in the community, with their school block has become a death trap to its occupants, because of its deplorable state, was also given 100 bags of cement for renovation, to prevent it from collapsing.

The donations follow television coverage on the local networks which showed the bad nature of the school and the pupils.

Speaking to the media after the donation, the chairman of the association, Ebenezer Amaniampong, also known as Abena Kwabena, disclosed that the group is committed to supporting the needy, especially those in the rural areas.

“In fact, our hearts got broken when we saw our children going to school without sandals, how can they learn under these circumstances,” he said.

“Just look at the poor nature of the school, do we have to sit down and let the school collapse and kill these kids? Though we do not have much money, I think our small donation, will at least, help them in a way to alleviate them from this unfortunate situation,” he added.

The chairman of the Young Patriots association, a joint donor, Paul Kofi Kangah, promised to support any school in the rural areas that are faced with challenges.
