Declare results Ndoum urges EC

One of the seven presidential candidates that contested the December 7 election wants the Electoral Commission (EC) to hasten with the declaration of final results.
Papa Kwesi Nduom, who contested on the ticket of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), says the tension that is building in the country due to the EC’s decision to hold on to the final results until Saturday, December 10, 2016, is unwarranted.
“Election is over, let’s move and let’s move this nation forward,” he said on Joy News Friday.
Opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo, is tipped to win Wednesday and Thursday’s presidential poll.
He is currently leading with 53% of provisional polls results from 262 out of 275 constituencies nationwide. Parliamentary candidates from his party have also won a majority of the 275 seats.
The EC says results should be declared by Saturday, citing delay in the receipt of results from some 69 constituencies in five regions at the National Collation Centre as the reason for the delay to declare final results.
Critics say the delay to declare Nana Akufo-Addo president elect is unnecessary and feeds suspicion that the EC is cooking a sinister plan.
