Parliament reconvened today, January 24, 2017, after being on break for almost two weeks.
The Leadership of the house and the committee on selection are expected to present the list of standing and select committees, and the list of Members of Parliament who will be serving on the various committees.
The Leadership of the house and the committee on selection, have already named the 26-members on the Appointments committee currently vetting the ministerial nominees.
The Members include 16 legislators from the majority side, and 10 others from the minority.
Parliament on January 11, 2017, announced a break “to afford Leadership and the Committee of Selection the opportunity to compose other committees of the House for the effective conduct of parliamentary business.”
According to the Majority Leader, Osei Kyei Mensa-Bonsu, who announced the Business Statement for the Second Week, ending Friday, 27th January, 2017, on the floor of the House, there would be a residential induction seminar for new legislators, and those who have not benefited from any induction programme at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) from Friday, January 27 to Monday, January 31, 2017.
“The seminar would afford especially new members the opportunity to be equipped with the necessary guidelines that will facilitate their work as Members of Parliament,” Mr Kyei Mensa-Bonsu said.
