A/R: Allow the President to do his work – Youth group
An Npp youth group known as the Ejisu Juaben Youth for Development in the Ejisu Juaben Municipality of the Ashanti region have called on party supporters in the area to respect the decisions of president Akufo-Addo and allow him to do his work as first gentleman of the land.
At a press conference, the group entreated party supporters in the municipality to accept and rally behind any person the president nominates as the Municipal chief executive for the area and desist from sabotaging the work of the president with their selfish interests.
The press conference follows a demonstration by some executives of the party together with some youth in the area against the supposed nomination of one Beatrice Serwaah Derkye as MCE for the municipality who they claim is a non-indigene and does not vote anywhere in the municipality.
Though the president has not yet mentioned any names, the demonstrators claim they are reliably informed that the president is bent on nominating Beatrice Serwaah Derkye who is the first deputy regional chairperson of the NPP as MCE, a decision they will fight against.
But speaking at the press conference, Organizer for the group and assembly member for Ejisu Onwe, Hon. Michael Owusu disclosed that it would be fallacious for any member of the party to say that Beatrice Serwaah Derkye is unknown and has done little for the party.
He explained that some party members are only trying to sabotage the work of the president because of their selfish interests and anybody who claims she is not known by the party might not be a member of the Npp in the Municipality.
According to him, assembly members from all the electoral areas in the municipality will overwhelmingly endorse her as MCE should president Akufo-Addo mention her name as the MCE nominee for the area.
He urged all to throw their support for anyone who the president nominates as MCE for the municipality and called on president Nana Addo to go ahead and nominate Mrs Derkye as the first female Municipal chief executive for the area.
”we will accept and support anyone the president nominates especially Mrs. Beatrice Serwaah Derkye.”
He therefore charged leaders of the demonstration to render an unqualified apology to the president through the party’s constituency executives.
