Flagstaff House summons Wontumi over Delta Force attack

The Ashanti Regional chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Bernard Antwi Bosiako has been summoned to the Flagstaff House to explain the circumstances leading to the hounding out of office the Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator by the Delta Force.

According to sources at the presidency, the action of the group was a clear disregard of president Akufo-Addo, who appointed George Adjei as the Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator.

About 200 members of the group Friday March 24, 2017 stormed the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council to stop Mr. Adjei from performing his duties, citing that they cannot work with him because he was not a native of the region.

Chairman ‘Wontumi’ as Bosiako is affectionately called, is believed to have links with some members of the vigilante group hence his summoning to the seat of governance to elucidate on the circumstance under which they stormed  Mr. Adjei’s office.

The Police in the Region has arrested four more suspects in connection with the attacks, bringing the number of suspects arrested to five including its leader, 37-year-old mechanic, Kwadwo Bamba. They have been charged with assault and causing unlawful damage.

According to sources, the five have been granted bail and are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
