Gyamfi, Ollenu and Yakubu for kotoko player of the month

Emmanuel Gyamfi, Ollenu Ashitey and striker, Yakubu Mohammed have been named as the nominees for the maiden Kotoko Express Player of the Month Award Programme. The two midfielders and striker were picked on the basis of performance, discipline and dedication to duty in the month of February.

Supporters on the two Kotoko Express WhatsApp platforms, who have been contributing financially to the award programme, will be voting between March 1 and 3, 2017 to choose their Best Player in February.

The winner will be announced on Sunday after the Kotoko-Elmina Sharks match day five league match in Kumasi. Kotoko Express Editor, Jerome Otchere, who announced the nominations on Wednesday said, the award programme is designed to boost player performance.

It’s also to build supporters’ enthusiasm in the team. “We’re encouraged by the huge interest fans have shown in the programme. The idea was mooted by them. It’s to motivate players to give their best to the team. We also see it as an opportunity to draw fans closer to the players and the club at large” Jerome added.

The award programme was mooted by members of Kotoko Express’ WhatsApp platforms in January.
