Collins Ameyaw joins Kotoko for three years

Young attacking midfielder, Collins Ameyaw has joined Kotoko from Berekum Chelsea for three years. The youngster signed contract papers at the club secretariat in Kumasi late Monday evening. Ameyaw, who also operates as a winger on both left and right flanks, was led to Kotoko’s secretariat by Berekum Chelsea’s President, Nana Kwame Nketia.

Ameyaw is a product of Berekum Chelsea’s Youth side. He was promoted to the senior team last season. He has been a consistent figure in their setup till now. In a brief interview with Asantekotokosc.com, he expressed his happiness to be part of the Kotoko family.

“I feel blessed to be here” he said. “I’m a young player walking into a big club. Not all players like me have had such a chance. I’m happy about it. I hope to make the most out of it” he promised.

Kotoko finished the first round of the 2016/17 Premier League at the 7th position on the back of a seven-match winless run. Expectations are that, the Porcupines will bounce back in the second round. The likes of Collins Ameyaw will be part of the revival work.

“It’s quite strange looking at the performance of the club” the youngster said about Kotoko’s recent form. “It’s not deserving of the club. Things will change. We need the time and patience. I’ve not played with any of the players here apart from Abass Mohammed. It will take a bit of time for me to get to know the play pattern of my colleagues but it will surely come” he said.
