Charlotte Osei to account for EC’s IGF – Hon Eugene Boakye

Deputy Minister for Works and Housing, Hon Eugene Boakye Antwi says, he moved the motion for parliament to haul EC chair Charlotte Osei before the house in march for failing to render accounts for funds generated internally by the commission during the presentation of her budget estimate to parliament.

The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Charlotte Osei is expected to appear before Parliament next week to answer questions on how much funds the commission generated internally which includes revenue collected from the media for accreditation to cover the just ended elections.

The member of parliament for Subin constituency in the Ashanti region, Hon Eugene Boakye Antwi explained that he was alarmed when the commission failed to capture internally generated funds (IGF) in their report when in 2016, they charged the media Ghc10 for acreditation, charged voters Ghc5 for voters ID card replacement and charged presidential, and parliamentary aspirants filing fees.

”I drew the speaker’s attention to the anomally and expected him to refer the matter to one of the committees in parliament but heard nothing until about two months ago when i filed two questions through the majority leader to the speaker to invite the EC chair to the house for answers”.
