Traders to be Schooled on Tax Payment – Kusi Boafo
Plans are underway by the government to give tax education to traders across the country, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Public Sector Reforms, Mr. Thomas Kusi Boafo has said.
“Very soon graduates with economics background will storm every market centre to educate traders on the need to pay their taxes”, he revealed.
“The traders like every worker in the country should know and understand that paying your tax will help government to develop the nation”, he pointed out on Otec fm’s “Dwabirem” show.
The former Economic Lecturer at the Kumasi Technical University (KTU) said, the education will eradicate corruption among officials of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).
“If traders get the education themselves , it saves them from being cheated by corrupt GRA officials”, the incoming CEO believes.
Mr. Thomas Kusi Boafo’s revelation comes after a team from the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council, led by the Regional Minister warned GRA officials in the region against corruption.
