Deputy Speaker defends SHS head

First Deputy Speaker of Parliament and Member of Parliament for Bekwai in the Ashanti region, Hon. Lawyer Joseph Osei Owusu popularly called “Joe Wise” has rubbished bribery allegations leveled against the Headmistress of the Bekwai Wesley High School .
Rev. Mrs Monica Afrifa Ntiamoah was accused of taking bribes from first year students and admitting only ‘Voltarians’ students and ‘Northerners’ but Akans.
But Lawyer Joseph Osei Owusu told Otec Fm’s Kwaku Anane Jr. that, he personally went there when he heard the allegations to establish the truth but after investigations, the allegations were found to be untrue.
The first deputy speaker revealed this on the sidelines of  the senior Minister, Hon Yaw Osafo Marfo’s visit to the Bekwai Wesley High School as part of his Ashanti regional free SHS monitoring tour.
He explained that the challenge the school encountered was inadequate dormitories to accommodate all the boarding students and that culminated into a misunderstanding that led to these false allegations made against her.
The free SHS policy is experiencing a great challenge of  all students wanting to be stay in the boarding house to enjoy the full benefits of the programme.
On her part, the Headmistress of the School, Rev. Mrs Monica Afrifa Ntiamoah described the visit of the senior minister and his monitoring team as a blessings for her.
“I think it has been a blessing, because if a Senior Minister can come to my school and my Bishop could send  delegates to visit my school, I think the bad news has turned into a blessings for me,” she stressed.
Meanwhile, the Senior Minister, Hon. Yaw Osafo Marfo has pointed out that government is putting measures in place to solve the challenge of inadequate dormitories.
