Ashanti Regional Police command arrests 3 suspected armed robbers
The Ashanti Regional police Command has arrested some suspected armed robbers from their hideous at Dichemso, a suburb of Kumasi, during intelligence led operation for their involvement in various armed robberies within the Kumasi metropolis and its environs.
The suspects are Emmanuel Fosu 27 yrs alias ʽAlhajiʼ, Farouk Amadu 25 yrs alias ʽBurgerʼ, Saliu Yakubu 28 yrs alias ʽBaba Tundeʼ alias ʽT.Iʼ while the fourth, Akwasi Yeboah 26 yrs, operated from different syndicate.
Addressing journalists on the incident, Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Julianna Obeng, said the suspects in usual occasions subject their victims to inhuman treatment by beating them mercilessly and sometimes raping and dumping them off in obscure places or in nearby bushes leaving them to their fate.
According to police, the suspects on board an Opel Astra Taxi cab with unsuspecting female passengers undressed the victims, blindfolded them, bound them and robbed them of their phones and monies.
ASP Obeng said, one Cecilia Boakye Fordjour 58 years that was severely beaten by the robbers in one of their operations died at the Komfo Anokye Hospital.
She said two of the suspects in their attempt to escape were fired at by the police and later died in the hospital and their bodies deposited at the Komfo Anokye hospital morgue.
Meanwhile three other suspects are on the run and police have mounted manhunt search for them.
