Kotoko draws against Club Athlétique Renaissance Aiglon of Congo CAF cup

Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC has been drawn against nine-time champions of Congolese league, Club Athlétique Renaissance Aiglon, in the preliminary stage of the 2018 CAF Confederations Cup in a short ceremony held on Wednesday, December 13, in Cairo.

Also founded in 1935, the Brazzaville based club qualified to the elite competition by virtue of placing 3rd in their league this year and will be hosted by the Porcupines Warriors in the first leg at the Baba Yara Sports stadium between February 9 and 11, 2018.

The second leg is scheduled to come off between February 20 and 21, 2018 in Brazzaville, Congo.

Commenting on the draw, Head of Communications for Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC, Obed Acheampong, in an interview with OTEC FM’s Royal Sports called on their fans to support the team by patronizing the club’s games at the stadiums to get funds in their preparation before and during the continental campaign.

In other development, Ghana’s league champion, Aduana Stars was drawn against Libyan side El Tahadi in CAF Champions League preliminary round on same dates, with Aduana Stars playing away first.
