Drobonso Police killers remanded by Asokwa District Court

Asokwa District Court in Kumasi has on Wednesday January 18, 2018, remanded suspected killers of two Police officers who were returning from duty in the early hours of Thursday January 11, 2018 at Onwan Mountains near Kumawu, in the Sekyere Afram Plains district of the Ashanti region.

The court presided over by His Worship Peter Oppong Boahen after refusing bail application for the suspects, adjourned the case to February 2, 2018.

The accused persons are Musa Abdulai 23, Usman Issaka 28, Issaka Mohammed 21, Jawo Issah 19, Alhaji  Ali Issah 65, and Suleiman Adams 52, and Aliu Amadu 26.

According to the prosecutor Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Okyere Darko, three out of the eight suspects namely Alhaji Bub, Gariba and Fuseni are at large.

Narrating the facts to the court, ACP, Okyere Darko said “on January 11, 2018, Ashanti regional police command arrested six suspects believed to be involved in the shooting and killing of the two police officers who were returning from duty.”

He said the police officers were coming from Drobonso when they were attack and murdered on the Onwan Mountains near Kumawu.

“All the seven suspects are Fulanis, made up of four persons who were involved in the robbery and murder of policemen and other travellers on the road, two cattle owners and financiers of the gang and one other who sell and distributes weapons to the gang,” Ashanti regional command COP Ken Yeboah stated in a press release on Monday, January 15.

The police further revealed that two shot guns, 1 locally made pistol and 17 live cartridges were retrieved from the suspects.

“The motives for the murder were to rob, kill security personnel and take their weapons in reprisal attack on Fulani herdsmen and their cattle at Agogo and its environs,” the statement added.
