Alumni of Unity Hall of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology(KNUST) Old Continentals Association has threatened parents not to attempt bringing their female wards to the Unity Hall vis a vis the decision of the University authorities to convert the all-male Unity Hall into a mixed hall.
Though the decision by the University is yet to be implemented, the old boys, led by their lawyers, aside taking a legal fight to oppose the move by the university authorities has also issued a stern warning to parents not to heed to the directives of the University until the final determination of a lawsuit challenging the decision.
“We are sending a word of caution to parents: please parents we respect you, do not send your female wards to the Unity Hall because the impending chaos against the University is not ending now,’’ Counsel for the old boys, Lawyer George Tetteh Wayo told newsmen in Accra.
The school has said the conversion will increase female enrollment in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics education.
According to them, attempts to alter the character and nature of Unity Hall from an all-male hall to a mixed hall is discriminatory.
