A popular Kumasi based Journalist, Andrews Korankye Akuoko, affectionary known as Captain Koda says the decision by the immediate past NPP National Chairman Frederick Worsemao Armah Blay to defend four accomplices of Aisha Huang in court is very strange.

According to Captain Koda, who is the host of OTEC FM’S breakfast show dubbed ‘Nyansapo’, it’s only the acts of sheer greediness on the part of Mr. Freddie Blay who had benefited tremendously from the ruling NPP Administration defeats his own party government’s commitment to fight ‘galamsey’.

‘’Already some government officials  including Ashanti Region Chairman of the Party, Mr Bernard Antwi Boasiako, aka Chairman Wontumi have already been accused of engaging in illegal mining with Aisha Huang and her four accomplices. Hence, for a staunch member of the party in government to defend the accused persons, it sends a wrong signal about government’s commitment to end the menace’’, furious Captain Koda fumed.

Expressing his disappointment of OTEC FM on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, the journalist noted that, “If Aisha Huang and her four accomplices are acquitted and discharged, then people will be making their deductions and may describe the trial as cover up.

It was revealed in court on Tuesday during proceedings regarding Aisha Huang’s case that the Former Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Freddie Blay will represent the four suspects.

Gao Jin Cheng, Lu Qi Jun, Haibin Go and Zhang Zhipeng together with the ‘galamsey’ queen, Aisha Huang are being held by the state for their involvement in illegal mining in the country.

“What I am saying is Freddie Blay is very astute lawyer, very competent lawyer but he must think about morality first but not money because he has enjoyed so much in this NPP government, moreso, President Akuffu Addo is his best friend so he should allow his conscience to guide him and for him to desist from greedy acts providing those services because it goes against their party’s wish,” he noted.

Meanwhile, Aisha Huang herself is being represented by NPP stalwart who former Member of Parliament and also for Deputy Minister of Interior, Nkrabea Effah Dartey.

He stood for and was elected as substantive Chairman of the party at an NPP party national conference in Koforidua that took place from 7 to 8 July 2018.
