Kwesi Appiah arrives in Ghana to begin Black Stars job

Newly appointed Black Stars coach, James Kwasi Appiah, arrived in Ghana Friday morning from London to begin his second spell as manager of the country’s senior national football team.
He was met on arrival at the Kotoka International Airport by some officials of the Ghana Football Association and the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Appiah managed the team between 2012 and 2014 during which period the team qualified for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and placed fourth at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.
His first stint as Black Stars coach ended in September 2014 after the team failed to qualify out of their group, which featured Portugal, USA and the eventual champions, Germany, amid high-profile off the pitch incidents that triggered an inquiry.
Appiah’s second coming followed the exit of his successor, Avram Grant, who resigned his role as the Black Stars coach in the aftermath of Ghana’s failure to win the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon. Prior to his current appointment, he served as the coach of Al Khartoum.
