Two police officers shot dead by robbers at Kasoa

Two police officers have been shot dead by suspected armed robbers at Aplaku Kasoa in the Central region Wednesday afternoon.

The officers, with the Kasoa divisional command, were engaged in a gun battle with the suspected robbers after they gave them a chase upon a tip off.

One of the officers died on the spot after he was hit with a bullet while the other died at the Winneba government hospital, Starr News has gathered.

Meanwhile, two suspects involved in the shooting have been arrested. The vehicle they were using, an unregistered Toyota Camry has also been retrieved together with some relevant articles.

Some witnesses, who spoke to OTECNEWS, said the robbers were in an unregistered blue-black Toyota Camry from an area called Kasoa-Vodafone Heading towards the Ofankor Bawjiase road which is a major hideout for robbers.

 “The policemen chased and crossed the vehicle of the robbers who opened fire on them killing one on the spot and another in a critical condition and sped off towards the Jei-Krodua road,” they narrated.
