Obuasi: Dormitory to accommodate 600 Christ the King Catholic SHS students abandoned for 7 years

A major project started at the Christ the King Catholic Senior High School at Obuasi in Ashanti region to improve the school’s infrastructure have been abandoned, leaving the school with serious infrastructural challenges.

Work on a new girls’ dormitory block started in 2012 to accommodate 600 students has been abandoned and have been overgrown with weeds although it is 90 per cent complete.

The problem of lack of infrastructure has compelled the school authorities to use class rooms for the girls dormitory.

These were disclosed to Kwabena Frimpong Manso (KFM) of CAK TV by the Board chairman of CKC SHS, Mr. Peter Amponsah when the Bishop of Obuasi Catholic Church, Most Rev. John Afoakwa paid a visit to the school to celebrate the Christ the king feast.

Girls prefect of the school, Bonah Anokyewaa Rubin called on the go government and authorities in the country to come to their aid. ” we have been promised countlessly on the completion of this project even before I came to school and I will complete next year but all efforts proved futile. We don’t feel comfortable in the school due to lack of infrastructure, we need help immediately from government and authorities” she appealed.
