Rage, fear, anxiety fill Kubease town over mysterious rape-and-kill deaths
wo suspected incidents of rape and murder of separate women within one month at Kubease in the Ejisu Municipality of the Ashanti region has left residents in fear and rage.
In the second and more recent of the acts, 24-year old trader, Abena Nintiwaa, was found dead and half-naked in her bedroom on Monday morning.
Her mysterious death comes after another woman was allegedly raped in her bedroom by persons who are yet to be identified.
The deaths have put fear in the community as women, especially say they are scared to go about their normal duties at night.
Abena’s body was discovered when co-tenants said they became curious about her unusual dfailure to take her turn to sweep the compound in the morning.
Upon checking her room, they found Abena’s lifeless body on her bed.
Even though the family are yet to get the autopsy report to know the real cause of death, some have said they suspect foul-play.
Their suspicion is occasioned by an earlier case of alleged rape of a young woman in her own room.
Enraged young men in the community are calling on authorities to assist them form community watchdog committee to provide patrol services to ward off criminals.
Police at Ejisu Divisional Command are reluctant to draw conclusions until the outcome of autopsy as part on investigation.
