Queen of Denmark, Margrethe II arrives in Ghana for state visit

Queen Margrethe was met on arrival at the Jubilee Lounge of Kotoka International Airport by Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

The Queen of Denmark, Queen Magrethe II, has arrived in Accra for a four-day state visit.

The visit at the invitation of President Akufo-Addo is to build on the strong and cordial Ghana-Danish relations, while boosting trade levels between the two countries.

She was accompanied by the Country’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Anders Samuelson, Minister for Environment and Food, Esben Lunde Larsen and a 39-member business delegation comprising Danish companies in sectors such as Food and Agriculture, Sustainability and Maritime and Infrastructure and Railways.

Queen Margrethe was met on arrival at the Jubilee Lounge of the Kotoka International Airport by the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and other government officials.

The visit is expected to spur business cooperation, as foundation has been laid with some MOU signed between the two countries.

Activities outlined for the four-day state visit include a meeting between the Queen and President Akufo-Addo, a business conference and Trade Fair, cultural visits in Accra, a state dinner hosted by the President, and site visits to Danish projects in Accra.

The Queen is also expected to meet the Danish community in Ghana, visit some cultural sites in the Eastern Region, and hold a news conference at the Royal Senchi Hotel.
