Nsawam Prison:notorious Kombian, 2 others attempt jail break

The Nsawam Medium Security Prison is currently under tight security following an alleged attempt by three inmates to break jail.

The inmates one of whom has been identified as the notorious criminal, Johnson Kombian, decided to escape from prison late Sunday but luck eluded them when a prison warden who was high alert during his night rounds apprehended them.

The identity of the other inmates are immediately not known.

Kombian is on a death sentence for killing two Police officers on October 17, 2010. He has been in Nsawam Medium Security Prison since August 2015.

Authorities of the prison are said to have been stunned by the attempted jail break by the three inmates.

“No one knows how they came out of their condemned cell to the main prison yard around mid-night Sunday. The key to their cell was not broken too.

The prison has been locked down with authorities said to have launched investigations into the attempted jail break.

“We have launched full scale investigations into the matter,” Public Relations Officer at the Prison, DSP Courage Atsem was quoted as saying but declined to give further details about the attempted jail break.
