The Techiman North Concerned Youth have called on their Member of Parliament, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu Agyare, to provide an update on the $100m Techiman Water Supply Rehabilitation and Expansion Project.
The project, funded by the Korean EXIM Bank, aims to improve water supply in Techiman North, South, and Offinso North. However, the youth group claims that the MP’s prolonged silence on the project’s status has raised concerns about transparency and accountability.

In a press statement on Tuesday July 30, 2024, the Conveyer for the Youth Group, Mr. Kumi Amankwaa Francis revealed that Parliament approved $100 million for the surface water supply system in November 2020, with their constituency as a beneficiary.
‘’Our MP’s long silence on this important matter appears to give credence to allegations been made by some NDC members in Techiman South and their Parliamentary candidate that the money has been paid into the accounts of the MPS in the beneficiary Constituencies to deny the Constituency of the project, the group said.
We’re calling on the MP, Techiman North Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu Agyare to explain to the good people of Techiman North on the whereabouts of this gargantuan money which is meant to provide decent water to the inhabitants of Techiman North, he added.
The group is demanding that their MP brief the constituency and Parliament on the project’s status, including whether any funds have been released for the work.
They are seeking transparency and accountability regarding the project’s implementation.
The youth group has threatened to organize a demonstration if the MP fails to provide an update, citing the need for accountability and transparency in the use of public funds.
