Bawumia: Mahama is worst president in Ghana’s history, reject him

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has launched a fierce critique against former President John Dramani Mahama, branding him as the “worst president” in Ghana’s history.

Speaking at a rally in Manso Nkwanta in the Ashanti Region on Friday (8 November) Dr Bawumia called on Ghanaians to reject Mahama in the December polls, stressing that a vote for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) would take the country backward.

He further accused the NDC flagbearer of economic mismanagement during his previous term, alleging that his administration left the country in a state of hardship and instability.

“During Mahama’s tenure as president, Ghana faced an ongoing power crisis, commonly referred to as “dumsor,” which persisted for four years. This constant interruption in power supply severely impacted many local businesses, causing some to collapse. Additionally, his administration discontinued the allowances for teachers and nurses in training.”

“Under his leadership, the National Health Insurance Scheme and Ambulance Service also faced significant challenges, with both struggling to operate effectively”, he told the charged crowd.

“This clearly shows that John Mahama is the poorest-performing president in Ghana’s Fourth Republic…Whatever matters we have done better,” he asserted.

The vice-president continues his 15-day tour on Saturday (9 November) as he canvasses for votes in the ruling party’s stronghold.

On Saturday (9 November) he led a delegation to bid farewell to the late NPP Chairman for Nhyiaeso George Kofi Agyei aka ‘Geokad’.

He later moved to Asante Akyem Central and Bosome Freho Constituencies to interact with key stakeholders and connect with constituents.
