Mahama visits Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at Manhyia ahead of the 2024 elections

The flagbearer for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has paid a courtesy call on the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II as part of his six days campaign tour in the Ashanti Region ahead of the December 7 polls

The former President John Mahama, with some Ashanti Regional executives, visited the Asantehene Otumfuor Osei Tutu II at his residence at the Manhyia palace on Tuesday, December 3,2024.

According to Mahama, the visit was to inform the Asantehene of his intention to campaign in Asanteman and seek the King’s blessings ahead of the general elections

“I always feel at home every time I visit Manhyia, as Asantehene has been like a father to me,” he noted.

He promised to complete all unfinished projects in the region, including those initiated by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, should he be elected in 2024.

“I’m making a promise today that when we come, we will continue all abandoned projects”, he stated

He continued, “Even projects that this current NPP government does not finish, we will continue and finish because they are funded by taxpayers’ money, so when you abandon them, you’re wasting the money of Ghanaians”.

On the part of Asantehene Otumfour Osei Tutu II, he urged political parties and election security task force to make everything in their power to promote peace and Unity in this year’s election.

He asserts that since God, not humans, appoints kings, it is now essential for all political parties to uphold law and order.

” My prayers are with you already and I plead you maintain law and order for God to Choose who to lead the country.”

He characterized the former president’s visit as a good example for people to know that Manhyia has nothing against NDC and urged him to propagate what he will do when given the mantle to lead the country.
