Dr Frank Amoakohene: Social media will be a tool for promoting good governance in Ashanti Region

The nominee for Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, has promised to use his social media platforms to promote good governance and interact with the people in the region.

Speaking during his vetting before Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Monday (27 January) Dr Amoakohene said he sees social media as a powerful tool to foster development and inspire young people to get involved in improving the region.

“In times past, when I was young, my father would send me to the community center, where they go to play, ‘Ludo’, ‘Dame’ among others. In recent times, those centers do not exist. There’s a new society known as social media, where we get the opportunity to share ideas and also to interact.”

He explained that platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and TikTok have helped him understand and connect better with the youth.

The nominee assured the committee that he will use his strong social media presence to promote good governance and the government’s development agenda.

“I want to assure the house that I’m not going to overly rely on social media. However, the platforms will be available so that the youth who would want to reach me can still send a message, and there will be a team there who will look at the messages and draw my attention, in order that I will be able to assist them when need be,” he said.

He also promised to have a team in place to ensure that concerns raised on social media are addressed quickly, showing his commitment to transparency and engaging with the youth.
