NPP’s Baba Amando granted GH¢30k bail with two sureties

The High Court of Ghana, General Jurisdiction 2, has granted bail to the Sunyani East Communications Officer of the New Patriotic Party, Abubakar Yakubu, popularly known as Baba Amando, following his two-week remand by an Accra Circuit Court.

The court admitted him to bail in the sum of GH¢30,000 with two sureties and ordered him to report to the police every two weeks as investigations continue.

Abubakar Yakubu was arrested on Monday, April 13, 2026, as part of ongoing investigations into allegations of offensive conduct, false publication, and the circulation of statements deemed likely to incite fear and panic.

His earlier remand by an Accra Circuit Court on April 14 had drawn attention, with authorities intensifying efforts to probe the circumstances surrounding the alleged offences.

Although formal charges are yet to be filed, sources indicate the arrest may be linked to alleged threats directed at a judge at the Adentan Circuit Court, a development that has raised concerns within legal and governance circles.

However, he is also alleged to have posted some derogatory images of the President and some members of the ruling government.

The case continues to unfold as investigators work to establish the full facts, while the court-imposed conditions are expected to ensure Yakubu’s availability to assist with the ongoing probe.
