MTN Ghana, UMB Bank launch “Wo Nkɔsoɔ” workshop to build capacity of traders and dressmakers

Telecommunication giants MTN Ghana, in partnership with UMB Bank, has launched the “Wo Nkɔsoɔ” Capacity Building Workshop for members of the Ghana National Traders and Dressmakers Association.

The initiative targets traders, dressmakers, hairdressers, farmers, and other groups, with the aim of equipping them with financial knowledge and support to improve their businesses and livelihoods.

Speaking at the event held at Garden House near the Great Hall of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, Senior Manager for Business Development at Mobile Money Fintech Limited, Charles Osei Owusu, said many customers only see mobile money as a tool for money transfers.

“Mobile money services can also be used to access loans, insurance, and pension schemes,” Mr. Osei Owusu stated.

He added that similar workshops will also be held in Takoradi, Tamale, and Accra to help educate more people on the benefits of mobile money services.

Head of Corporate Communications for UMB Bank, Edem Knight-Tay, expressed excitement about the partnership and introduced some of the bank’s products, including the SpeedUp product, aimed at helping customers grow their businesses.

“We are excited to partner with MTN Ghana on this initiative. Our SpeedUp product is designed to support traders and artisans to scale up their operations,” Madam Knight-Tay said.
