
Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has appointed a 16-member team to oversee his political operations as the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) begins early groundwork for the 2028 general elections.
The appointments, announced on social media, cover strategy, communications, policy and youth mobilization.

Bawumia’s office said the selections reflect the flagbearer’s readiness to build a “formidable party structure” ahead of the polls.
Former Majority Leader Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu will serve as Chief of Staff, while ex-MP Frederick Opare-Ansah takes charge of Identifiable Activities.
Peter Mac Manu, former NPP National Chairman, was named Director of Political Strategies.

The team blends veteran party strategists with younger communicators and policy experts.
The mix is expected to strengthen Bawumia’s outreach to youth, women, and the party’s base as the NPP begins groundwork for 2028.
Bawumia lost the 2024 presidential election to John Mahama but remains the NPP’s leading figure going into the next election cycle.
