Justin Kodua Frimpong, the General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has officially launched his re-election campaign, kicking off a nationwide tour in the Savannah Region.

The tour got off to a strong start, with key regional and constituency party executives pledging their firm support for his second-term bid ahead of the party’s upcoming national internal elections.

Kodua, who took office following a fiercely contested election in July 2022, led a high-powered delegation to the region.

His entourage included several prominent party leaders and lawmakers:

Mohammed Nurudeen, MP for Nalerigu-Gambaga

Haruna Mohammed, Deputy General Secretary

Ebenezer Nii Narh Nartey, Former MP for Ablekuma Central

Bashiru Ibrahim, Former Deputy CEO of the Youth Employment Agency

Joseph Kwayaja Nganiba, Deputy National Organiser

Hajia Rabi Salifu, Deputy Director of Communications

The campaign delegation was formally received by the Savannah Regional Executive Committee, led by Regional Chairman Kalamonia, before proceeding to engage party delegates across the Salaga North, Salaga South, and Sawla-Tuna-Kalba constituencies.

Rebuilding for 2028:

Addressing constituency delegates and party loyalists, Kodua outlined his core vision for a second term, which rests on four fundamental pillars: preparing, positioning, focusing, and rebuilding the NPP ahead of the crucial 2028 general elections.

Reflecting on his first term, Kodua acknowledged that his administration navigated severe internal challenges, most notably managing the party’s administrative machinery during periods when the NPP lacked a substantive national chairman.

Despite these operational hurdles, he highlighted his role in keeping the party united, stable, and functional.

Among the key institutional reforms achieved under his leadership, Kodua pointed to:

Electoral College Expansion: Broadening party voting rights to encompass former executives and appointed officers, fostering greater inclusivity.

Communication Overhaul:

Restructuring and modernizing the NPP’s communications wing to improve public engagement and message dissemination.

Institutional Development:

Establishing the Patriotic Institute, a dedicated political academy designed to train and mentor the next generation of party leaders.

He emphasized that these initiatives were carefully crafted to reinforce the party’s organizational resilience and lay a solid foundation for future electoral victories.

Grassroots Endorsements:

The Savannah Region leg of the campaign concluded with ringing endorsements from constituency executives across Sawla-Tuna-Kalba, Damongo, and surrounding areas.

Party leaders in the region praised Kodua’s proactive leadership, noting that continuity in the General Secretary’s office is vital to consolidating current administrative reforms and maintaining party cohesion ahead of the next national contest.

Expressing his gratitude for the overwhelming endorsement, Kodua reassured the delegates of his unwavering commitment to grassroots empowerment, institutional growth, and party unity if re-elected.

The Savannah Region visit marks the opening chapter of Kodua’s countrywide campaign tour as he seeks to secure a second mandate at the helm of the NPP’s administration.
