The Minister for the Interior and Member of Parliament for Asawase Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Mohammed-Mubarak Muntaka, has commissioned a newly constructed six-unit first-floor classroom block at Sakafia Senior High School to enhance teaching and learning.
The facility, which includes offices and stores, forms part of efforts to improve educational infrastructure and create a more conducive environment for students and teachers in the Asawase area.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by the Municipal Chief Executives for Asokore Mampong and Tafo Municipal Assemblies, Ben Abdallah Alhassan and Abubakar Sadique, respectively, as well as municipal directors of education, traditional leaders, members of the clergy and other stakeholders.
The Asawase MP Alhaji Muntaka said the completion of the project represented another significant step towards addressing infrastructure needs in schools within the constituency.
He reiterated the government’s commitment under President John Dramani Mahama to expanding access to quality education and providing schools with the necessary facilities to support effective teaching and learning.
Sakafia Senior High School is also benefiting from other major infrastructure projects, including a 2,000-seat assembly hall and a four-storey girls’ dormitory.
According to the Minister, the additional facilities would further strengthen the school’s infrastructure and increase its capacity to accommodate students.
Beyond infrastructure development, Mr. Muntaka used the occasion to caution students against the growing incidence of drug abuse among young people.
He urged the students to remain disciplined, concentrate on their studies and avoid choices that could jeopardise their health, education and future.
The Minister encouraged them to make responsible decisions that would contribute to their personal development and enable them to become productive members of their families and society.
The commissioning forms part of broader efforts to improve educational infrastructure and support quality education in the Asawase Constituency.
