President John Dramani Mahama has approved a series of appointments and reassignments as part of a reorganisation of the National Security Council Secretariat.
Under the changes announced by the Presidency on Tuesday, Major (Rtd.) General William Ayamdo, a former Chief of Army Staff, has been appointed Deputy National Security Coordinator (Operations).
Former National Security Coordinator Yaw Donkor has also been appointed Director of Intelligence and Research at the Office of the National Security Advisor.
The Presidency said the following appointments and reassignment have also been approved:
Adamu Saaka — Director of Logistics and Transport;
Faustina Effah-Boadi — Officer in Charge of the Human Security Department;
DCOP (Rtd.) Peter Ndekugri — Officer in Charge of the Special Investigations Unit; and
ACP Alhassan Osman — reassigned to the Ghana Police Service for further deployment.
The Presidency said the appointments and reassignment take immediate effect.
The reorganisation comes as the government continues to restructure the country’s national security architecture, with the new appointments placing experienced military, police and security personnel in key operational, intelligence and investigative roles.
General Ayamdo previously served as Chief of Army Staff of the Ghana Armed Forces, while Yaw Donkor is a former National Security Coordinator.
The changes were announced in a statement signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, on Tuesday, 11 August 2026.
