7,163 delegates, 45 aspirants, one NPP: Why unity must win on October 3
On October 3, the New Patriotic Party stands at a pivotal moment. Across the nation, 7,163 delegates will assemble to perform a sacred civic duty: selecting the national officers who will steer our great party forward. With 45 dedicated aspirants stepping up to offer their service, the energy surrounding this congress is palpable.
Yet, as we prepare to cast our ballots, it is vital that we pause and reflect on the bigger picture. Beneath the posters, the slogans, and the healthy competition lies a fundamental truth; the Great Elephant itself must emerge as the ultimate winner.
It is easy in the heat of a campaign to view internal contests through the lens of victory and defeat, but within our party, there are no true opponents only family members offering different paths toward the same vision.
The 45 men and women contesting have demonstrated immense courage, passion, and commitment to our cause. Whether an aspirant walks away with an official title on October 3 or not, their contribution enriches our collective strength.
Come October 4, there can be no divide between winning camps and losing camps. Every candidate and every delegate belongs to the same house, and this congress is not a battle against one another, but a family gathering to sharpen our tools and prepare for 2028.
Because our unity is our strongest weapon, the spirit in which we vote matters just as much as the choices we make. I plead with all delegates to ensure our campaigns remain free of bitterness, personal insults, and needless friction, because tearing each other down only weakens the house we are all trying to build.
We must intentionally choose unifying leaders whose vision extends far beyond election day and who possess the heart and humility to bring all 45 contest camps together the moment the results are declared.
Above all, we must remember Suame and every constituency across the nation by electing national officers who will stay grounded in the grassroots, listen to local concerns, and actively engage the base rather than remaining distant in Accra.
To our 45 aspirants, you have already made us immensely proud by showing that the NPP remains a vibrant home for talented and courageous leaders.
Your energy inspires our party, and your leadership will remain essential as we work together to break the eight and secure victory for years to come. To my fellow 7,163 delegates, you hold the destiny of our party in your hands.
As you enter the voting booth, remember that your thumb carries a profound responsibility to the collective future of our tradition. Vote with wisdom, vote with foresight, and above all, vote for party cohesion.
