The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) has marked its 70th anniversary with a series of activities, including an inter-directorate fun games competition for staff.
Held at Paa Joe Park at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, on Saturday September 19, 2026,the fun games brought together all staff of the hospital who battled for the ultimate trophy
Speaking to OTEC news Reporter Kwame Agyenim Boateng at thr sidelines of the event, the Deputy Medical Director of the hospital and Chairman of the 70th Anniversary Planning Committee, Dr. Opare Larbi, said the initiative was aimed at promoting physical exercise and healthy lifestyles among staff.
“As a health institution responsible for providing healthcare services, it is important for the hospital to also encourage its staff to engage in regular physical activity,” Dr. Larbi stated.
According to him, some staff work from Monday to Monday and may not have adequate opportunities to exercise.
“The fun games were therefore incorporated into the anniversary celebrations to give staff the opportunity to exercise, interact and promote their general well-being,” he added.
Dr. Opare Larbi further explained that the anniversary activities have been carefully designed to fit into the hospital’s overall vision and operations.
He noted that many of the activities carried out by the hospital are not always made public because of the confidential nature of patients’ cases.
“Patients often come to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital when they have serious health concerns, making it important for the hospital to maintain patient confidentiality while continuing to provide quality healthcare,” he said.
