The National Youth Wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is set to stage a demonstration today, Tuesday, November 3, to protest what it describes as alleged corruption, lack of transparency and the government’s failure to fulfill key campaign promises made to Ghanaians.
The protest, dubbed the “Yegyeyɛ Sika Demo,” is expected to bring together members and supporters of the opposition party, particularly its youth base, to demand accountability from the government over several issues of national concern.
A major focus of the demonstration will be calls for greater transparency surrounding the government’s recent South Africa evacuation exercise, with the NPP youth wing demanding a detailed account of the funds reportedly allocated for the operation.
The protest is also expected to highlight concerns about the management of public resources and what the organisers consider inconsistencies in the government’s handling of financial matters.
Speaking to Citi News ahead of the protest, the NPP Volta Regional Youth Organiser, Emmanuel Senyo Amekplenu, called on young Ghanaians to participate in the demonstration, insisting that citizens must not remain indifferent when questions are raised about the management of public funds.
“If it is your money, you will not allow that to happen. If it is your company, you will not allow that to happen to your company and so for that reason, we, as a responsible Minority, the youth wing of the New Patriotic Party is leading the charge for the honourable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa to render account to the Ghanaian people.

“The GH¢49.7 million that was given to Ablakwa, we want to know the true status of that money. Was there any error of transposition? Was there any accounting error in the course of balancing the account? We want to know.”
