Police arrest three Nigerians over robberies targeting bank customers in Kumasi

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested three Nigerian nationals suspected of being members of a criminal syndicate allegedly targeting bank customers in Kumasi and its environs.
The suspects, identified as Aboy Promise, 30; Favour Uwalaka, 45; and Kingsley, alias KC, 35, were arrested in separate operations following intelligence gathered by the police.
The first two suspects were arrested at a hotel at Moshie Zongo, where a search of their rooms led to the recovery of GH¢1,600, assorted mobile phones, a Royal motorbike and a master key believed to have been used to gain unauthorised access to victims’ vehicles.
The suspects are also alleged to have used a master key to break into unattended vehicles belonging to bank customers and steal cash kept inside.
The suspects subsequently led the police team to another hotel at Dichemso, where Kingsley was arrested. However, Chinedu, alias Alhaji, is still on the run, with the police appealing to the public to volunteer credible information that could lead to his arrest.
The three suspects are alleged to have admitted to robbing a victim of GH¢15,000 on October 27, 2026, at Asokore Mampong, after the victim had withdrawn money from Kwamang Rural Bank.
They are also alleged to have been involved in similar robberies at the Atonsu branch of Fidelity Bank, the Ahodwo branch of Access Bank and other locations within Kumasi and its surrounding communities.
The three arrested suspects have since been handed over to the Ashanti Regional Police Command and are assisting with investigations.
Meanwhile, the police have cautioned bank customers to remain vigilant and be alert to suspicious persons around banking premises. They have also advised the public against leaving cash and other valuables unattended in vehicles.
