Election 2024: Kumasi Magistrate Court nullifies over 1,000 fraudulent voter transfers in Manhyia South Constituency

In a significant ruling, the Kumasi Magistrate Court  , has nullified over 1,000 fraudulent voter transfers to the Manhyia South Constituency.

The court presided over by Her Worship Deborah Gyaawa Donkor, on Tuesday September 24,2024 ordered the Electoral  Commission of Ghana EC to revert the voters in question back to where they were transfered  from.

These transfers, allegedly engineered by the National Democratic Congress (NDC), were challenged by Lawyer Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for the constituency.

Lawyer Awuah, who recently won the NPP parliamentary primary in the constituency  discovered the suspicious transfers and swiftly mobilized polling station executives and residents to object.

They completed the Objection Form, citing Regulation 23 of CI 91, revealing that the transferred voters were non-residents.

The court’s decision is a major setback for the NDC’s alleged attempt to boost their chances in the 2024 elections.

The voided transfers are believed to comprise NDC sympathizers.

This development underscores the importance of vigilance in ensuring electoral integrity.

The NPP and residents of Manhyia South Constituency have demonstrated that collective action can protect the democratic process.
