Bawumia donates GHC200,000 to Yagbonwura Educational Fund

Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice-President and presidential candidate of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has pledged GHC200,000 to the Yagbonwura Educational Fund, a new initiative aimed at enhancing educational standards in Gonjaland.

The fund’s launch, which took place on Monday (23 September) in Damongo, Savannah Region, also saw Finance Minister Mohammed Amin Adam contribute GHC100,000.

The donations were presented by Alhaji Iddrisu Sulemana, the Savannah regional chairman of the NPP, who is popularly known as “Prof Kalamonia.”

Sulemana explained that Bawumia’s support stems from concerns over declining educational standards in the region.

However, upon learning of the King and Overlord of Gonjaland, Yagbonwura Bii-kunuto Jewu Soale I’s plan to establish the fund, Bawumia recognised the need to contribute through his father’s educational initiative.

Bawumia, according to Sulemana, highlighted the Nana Akufo-Addo-led government’s ongoing commitment to education, pointing to the government’s Free Senior High School (SHS) policy as a key example of this dedication.

He further reiterated Bawumia’s focus on making university education accessible for individuals with disabilities.
