NPP 2028Flagbearership: ‘I trust in our delegates’ – Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum

Former Minister of Education and Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has expressed trust and confidence in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) delegates for his decision to contest the party’s flagbearership race ahead of the 2028 elections.

Dr. Adutwum announced his intention to run for the NPP flagbearership on June 18, 2025, via a Facebook post, stating he’ll join the race once nominations are officially opened by the party.

Expressing his confidence in the race today, June 20, 2025, on OTEC FM’s Dwabrem afternoon show hosted by Doctor Cash, the former minister highlighted on the party’s electoral process and delegates, stating that he believes in the integrity of the party’s delegates.

He revealed that delegates of the party are discerning and know what is best for the party and the country.

He further stressed on his impact in Ghana’s politics especially in the sector of education, calling on party delegates to give him the nod come January 31,2026.

Dr. Adutwum joins a growing list of notable NPP figures vying for the flagbearership, including:

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia,former Vice President and current frontrunner, Kennedy Agyapong, Businessman and former Assin Central MP, Bryan Acheampong, former Minister for Agriculture and Abetifi MP.

The NPP has scheduled its presidential primary for January 31, 2026, setting the stage for a decisive contest to elect the party’s flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.
