Asantehene endorses Sarkodie’s 2025 Rapperholic Concert in Kumasi

Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has endorsed the 2025 edition of the Rapperholic Concert, set to take place in Kumasi.

The Asantehene gave his endorsement during a courtesy call at the Manhyia Palace by Ghanaian rapper Michael Owusu Addo, popularly known as Sarkodie, on Friday, July 18, 2025.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II expressed interest in attending the concert, which is scheduled to be held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on September 27.

Sarkodie briefed the King on the event, which marks a significant milestone as the Rapperholic Concert moves to Kumasi for the first time.

“12 years ago, I released an album called Rapperholic, and it has performed well. It was well received by many, so I institutionalised it as an annual celebration.”

He noted that this would be the second time the concert is being hosted in Kumasi and sought the King’s blessings for its success.

“Three years after celebrating it in Kumasi, I am here to hold this year’s edition in Kumasi. I am here with my team to seek the blessings of His Majesty before announcing it,” He stated.

He stated that this would be the second time the concert is being hosted in Kumasi and sought the King’s blessings for a successful event.

In response, the Asantehene advised the artist to avoid unhealthy competition in the music industry and encouraged him to remain humble.

“I will continue to pray for you. When you came to visit me the last time, I told you to remain humble and respectful. He must avoid all unhealthy competitions. He is already gifted. He must remain focused on his actions.”

Otumfuo further admonished Sarkodie’s team to remain grounded in their values and urged them to support and stay united with one another.

“Don’t engage yourself in something that will create problems for the artiste. Focused on ventures that will propel the artiste. When honour comes, you will have your share,” Otumfuo added.
