Changing Destinies: Bryan Acheampong sends over 90 Children to School

Students supported under the educational sponsorship initiative of Abetifi MP, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, visited him last week before setting off to begin the new school term.

The farewell gathering gave the beneficiaries a chance to receive their provisions for the semester and hear words of encouragement from their benefactor.

For the past five years, the initiative, which covers tuition, boarding, food, and other essentials, has enabled children from Kwahu and surrounding areas to access quality education at Achimota School. Some of the beneficiaries have already graduated, while others are continuing at different levels, including 16 new entrants this term.

In a brief exchange, Dr. Acheampong reminded the students that education was both a privilege and a responsibility. He encouraged them to stay disciplined, work hard, and keep sight of the role they must play in building stronger families, communities, and ultimately, the nation.

Sharing his own story, he noted that he began his education at Achimota Primary before moving on to PRESEC, an experience that taught him the doors quality education can open.

“Opportunity is the most powerful gift I can give,” he said. “But it is your effort that will turn that opportunity into success.”

So far, 25 of the students have completed the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and are awaiting results, while 63 others continue their studies. The programme provides continuity of support, starting from primary school through to senior high school, ensuring that no child is left behind.

Observers say the initiative has become a model of consistency in private educational support in the Kwahu area, reflecting Dr. Acheampong’s long-standing emphasis on empowering young people as the foundation of sustainable community development.
