
An 11-member Ministerial Oversight Committee has been inaugurated by the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, to supervise Ghana’s preparation and participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The ceremony took place at the Jubilee House on Wednesday, November 26. In his remarks, Mr. Debrah urged the committee to approach its mandate with integrity and total commitment to ensure effective coordination ahead of the tournament.



He also encouraged members to look beyond football and explore wider opportunities the World Cup presents.



Ghana secured qualification for the global showpiece with a narrow 1–0 victory over Comoros on Sunday, October 12, in Accra — sealing the Black Stars’ fifth World Cup appearance since 2006.


Inaugurating the committee, the Chief of Staff reiterated his call for diligence and integrity from all members.

2. Sports and Recreation. Hon Kofi Adams
3. Foreign Affairs- Hon Samuel O Ablakwa
4. Youth Development- Hon George Opare
5. Tourism and Culture. Hon Yusif Jajah (deputy minister)
6. Finance ministry. Ampem Nyarkoh (deputy minister)
7. GFA. Kurt Okraku (Chairman)
8. Deputy National Security Coordinator- Elizabeth Yankah
9. Former Footballer- Abedi Pele
10. Sports Ministry- Mrs Wilhelmina Asamoah (Chief Director)

Meanwhile, the government has allocated GH¢150 million to support the Black Stars’ participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, announced this on Thursday, November 13, during the presentation of the 2026 Budget Statement and Economic Policy to Parliament.

According to Dr. Forson, the allocation underscores the government’s commitment to sports development and national representation on the global stage. The funds are expected to support the Black Stars’ preparations, logistics, and participation in the tournament, which the United States, Canada, and Mexico will jointly host.
