Odeneho Kwaku Appiah is the newly elected Ashanti Regional Chairman
Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as COKA, has been elected Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), securing a decisive victory in the party’s regional executive elections.
COKA polled 663 votes to defeat his main contender, former Bantama MP Dr. Henry Kwabena Kokofu, who obtained 269 votes, according to provisional results. The 394-vote margin gives COKA a commanding victory in the highly anticipated contest.
The results triggered wild jubilation among COKA’s supporters, with the atmosphere at the election centre shifting from tense anticipation to loud drumming, singing and party chants.
Delegates waved NPP flags and lifted the Chairman-elect onto their shoulders as supporters celebrated his victory.
COKA is expected to lead the party’s organisational and mobilisation activities in the Ashanti Region and work towards strengthening the party’s grassroots structures ahead of the 2028 general elections.
The election forms part of the NPP’s nationwide exercise to elect new regional executives who will oversee the party’s activities and mobilisation in preparation for the next general election.
Meanwhile, in the contest for Regional Communications Officer, Dr. Keskine Owusu Poku polled 588 votes, while Ishak Kyei Brobey secured 335 votes.
In the Regional Women’s Organiser race, Beatrice Owusu emerged victorious with 481 votes, defeating Victoria Nyarko Achiaw, who obtained 377 votes, and Ophelia Samaaba, who polled 59 votes.
The newly elected executives are expected to assume responsibility for strengthening the NPP’s structures, improving grassroots engagement and positioning the party for a strong campaign in the 2028 elections.
