In a notice dated 26 September, and signed by Regional Chairman Richard Owusu Asumadu, PRETAG said the industrial action involved PRETAG, the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) and the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT).
The regional secretariat stressed that the action was not a sit-down strike, directing teachers instead to remain away from their schools until further notice.
It urged members to remain united in support of the issues that led to the industrial action and comply with directives issued by the unions.
PRETAG also asked teachers to report to union representatives in their respective districts anyone who threatened, intimidated, coerced or attempted to compel them to report to school during the industrial action.
The regional secretariat said it would continue to provide members with official updates as developments unfolded.
“All members are therefore urged to remain at home and stay away from school until further notice,” it said.
The directive means PRETAG members in the Ashanti Region are expected to remain away from schools until the unions issue further instructions.
