In a bold bid to reclaim political ground for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), former Member of Parliament for Asante Akyem North and Co-Chair of the NPP’s Committee on Youth and Sports, Hon. Kwadwo Baah Agyemang, has officially confirmed his intent to run as a parliamentary candidate hopeful in the party’s upcoming primaries.

Speaking during a fiery, high-energy live broadcast on Salt 98.3 FM in Agogo, the charismatic former lawmaker declared that he remains deeply committed to the developmental trajectory of his native constituency.

Armed with renewed vigor and strategic vision, Hon. Baah Agyemang emphasized that his passion for transforming Asante Akyem North remains undiminished.

Groundswell of Support:

Hon. Baah Agyemang revealed that his decision to enter the race follows relentless, months-long appeals from traditional leaders, elected Assembly Members, and influential community opinion leaders.

Following the NPP’s shocking defeat in the 2024 parliamentary elections, local stakeholders have consistently prevailed upon him to step back into the political arena and restore stability to the constituency.

“After extensive consultations, deep reflection, and overwhelming encouragement from our revered Chiefs, Assembly Members, and the good people of Asante Akyem North, my path is clear,” Hon. Baah Agyemang declared.

He noted, “In the coming days, I will formally seal my commitment to this cause by procuring the nomination forms as soon as the process permits.”

Resurgent Vision:

Central to Hon. Baah Agyemang’s campaign is the urgent mandate to unite the fragmented local party base and wrench the parliamentary seat back into the NPP fold.

He expressed resolute confidence that the electorate in Asante Akyem North is eager to realign with the NPP to accelerate socio-economic progress.

Rebuilding The Stronghold:

Hon. Baah Agyemang stressed that recapturing the seat will require unyielding dedication, strategic alignment, and absolute solidarity across all party levels.

Past Legacies:

He paid homage to the contributions of his predecessor, Hon. Andy Appiah-Kubi, promising to consolidate and expand upon the foundation laid during previous NPP administrations.

“We must work with unwavering unity of purpose to bring this parliamentary seat back to where it belongs,” he emphasized.

He added that, “the people of Asante Akyem North are ready for a hopeful, development-driven future under the NPP banner.”

Shifting Political Landscape:

Until the landmark 2024 general elections, Asante Akyem North was widely regarded as an impregnable fortress for the NPP.

However, the constituency experienced a momentous political earthquake when independent candidate Ohene Kwame Frimpong secured a decisive victory, systematically dismantling the NPP’s decades-long stronghold.

The political dynamics in the constituency have grown increasingly complex following the subsequent legal troubles and incarceration of the sitting independent MP, leaving local leadership and governance in an unprecedented state of flux.

Determined to regain lost ground, the National Executive Committee of the NPP officially opened nominations on Sunday, November 1, 2026, inviting prospective parliamentary aspirants across the nation to file their intent for the party’s internal contests.

Grassroots Mobilization:

As news of Hon. Baah Agyemang’s declaration sent ripples across the constituency, local party machinery swung into high gear.

At the time of going to press, a coalition of enthusiastic Assembly Members and grassroots organizers in Asante Akyem North were already pooling financial resources to support the former MP, a poignant demonstration of the surging grassroots confidence behind his historic comeback bid.
