Residents of Ahinsan and Atonsu-Agogo in the Asokwa municipality of the Ashanti region are bemoaning of the collapse of their businesses in the communities due to the heavy vehicular traffic congestions on the Ahinsan-Atonsu-Agogo road.
The residents say the nature of the road; the small size and its bad nature, make it difficult for customers to patronage their goods and services, a situation affecting their standard of living and wants the government to rectify the situation.
Speaking in an interview with Otec FM’s Evans Agyei Sikapa on Tuesday, August 13, 2019, on ‘Asanteman Akwan’ on a project called ‘Operation Fix Our Roads’ (#OFOR), the residents complained that the five-minute Ahinsan-Atonsu-Agogo stretch, is now one hour stretch, due to the heavy traffic.
They, however, suggested to the authorities to reshape the adjoining roads of S-Line to Ahinsan, Ahinsan estate to Ahinsan Coca-Cola, Afanko to junction Bokro and Kuwait to Kaase to ease traffic on the Ahinsan-Atonsu-Agogo road.
Some commercial drivers also expressed worry at the traffic situation which is adversely “affecting their daily sales”.
Assemblyman for the Atonsu-Agogo North Electoral Area, Hon. Eric Osei, responding to the issue called on the residents to calm down as plans are underway by the government to fix the situation.
He hinted that roads in Asokwa municipality are beneficiary of the Synohydro roads project deal.
