2020 Polls: Let’s maintain Ghana’s peace and stability – Bawumia
Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has underscored the need for maintenance of the country’s peace prior, during and after the 2020 polls collectively as a nation.
Speaking at the annual Maulid of the Concerned Moslem Youth Association (CMYA) of Mamprugu at Walewale in the West Mamprusi Municipality of the North East Region, the Vice President said.
“It is important that in this election year we do all we can to maintain the peace and stability of the nation. In addition, religious tolerance has become something Ghana is known for and we should do more to promote this”, he stressed.
The 8th Annual Muslims/Islamic Gathering under the theme Harnessing the Socio-political Development Potentials in Modern Ghana: The Role of The Muslim Ummah” was preceded by a three- day intensive Medical outreach program throughout the North East Region.
It was sponsored by Kingdom Exim Group of companies organised by PAF – Periyar African Foundation with support from Dr Agawals Eye Hospital, Manam Dental House where over 300 people were screened for eye and dental problems..
Sulemana Hisham General Secretary of Concerned Moslem Youth Association (CMYA) was full of praise for Kingdom Exim Group of Companies for its contribution to the improvement of the health needs of the residents of Mamprugu and appealed to other organizations to emulate their example.
Touching on the event which brought together Imams, Sheikhs, Chiefs, Magazias, stakeholders and the Mamprugu Muslim Ummah, he observed that the annual event serves as a platform that considers unity, and socio-economic and religious developments of the area.
