Shared Blessing Alliance sensitizes children in deprived communities to have interest in education

Shared Blessing Alliance (SBA), a non-governmental organization (NGO), has embarked on an educational campaign in the deprived communities in Ghana to motivate school-going-children to have interest in education.

The campaign dubbed LET’S GO BACK TO SCHOOL’ will educate and motivate parents, guardians and children on the importance of education, who have ventured into illegal mining ‘galamsey’, farming, fishing, trading among others due to long closure of schools.

The Executive Director of Shared Blessing Alliance, Isaac Ewuah Mensah, announced the campaign during the launching of the organization’s website on Monday, January 18, 2021, in Kumasi.

The website address is sharedblessingalliance.org

Mr. Awuah Mensah noted that children in the deprived areas did not have the access to online education proposed by the Ghana Education Service (GES) during the closure of schools due to the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, hence the campaign.

“Unlike children in the cities who during the long stay at home had the opportunities to study online so they still have interest in studies, but most children in deprived communities have lost interest in education because they can earn from trading, farming, fishing among others” he said.

Mr. Awuah Mensah added that essential educational materials such as school bags, reading books, exercise books, work books, pens, pencils, erasers, toys etc. will be distributed to the children to encourage them to go back to school.

He stated that SBA is looking forward to support thousands of young children in deprived communities.

“SBA since 2017 has supported 854 children in 4 communities with essential educational materials and other support,” he revealed.

“I want to use this opportunity to invite individuals and corporate organizations to support us to reach out to children in deprived communities” he also said.
