It is very puzzling and difficult to understand the dynamics and game plan of the npp regarding the reward system for its party’s militant officers in Ashanti region. In the first term of Nana Addo’s reign where he had bloated appointments to run his administration, these known party officers didn’t find a place of pride as a reward for the heavy lifting they engaged in to get the party in power. Luckily, the party has won a second term bid to govern for the next four years, though, the validity of its performance is being challenged by the opposition party. Whilst at that, governance must continue and the president is forming his government again. But it looks unsatisfactory to still see these gallant officers of the party in Ashanti region not find a mention in the proposed list of the present nominees. Don’t be flippant with this; i am talking about the region which fortunes for the npp party in the last election could douse the impact of nine regions in ghana. A region which if properly nurtured and nursed, can make the npp stay long in power to even break the eight year loss jinx of the two parties since the fourth republic.
The party’s regional secretary, Samuel Pyne, i choose to call him the party’s general secretary, in spite of working himself to a frazzle with his gallant officers, could best be placed at the kumasi abattoir as a board member. That was, in my personal estimation, a disregard for the party’s impact in the victory of the party in 2016. We have seen secretaries of the party in less impactful regions make the position of regional ministers, AMA bosses, among a slew of many juicy jobs. If it is possible for central region, greater accra region and most recently, the north east region, why can’t it be applied for the Ashanti region? Mr president, we are fervently waiting for a mention of an apposite office for the Ashanti regional secretary of the npp. You have appointed regional ministers already – KMA boss is still vacant, fix him there. It must be noted that properly recognizing the party’s officer such as Samuel Pyne for a suitable office, is a way of branding the party and boosting the morale of the base of the party to consolidate the gains and sustain same for the success of the party.
Apart from the regional secretary which I implore the president to honour him with a more decent fixing, there are many others whose coalesced efforts revamped the interest and whipped the enthusiasm of the base, neglect of which would have occasioned a putsch of the party into opposition.
I have witnessed how great the appointment of Justin Kodua Frimpong and Nelson Owusu Ansah has brought glory and inched up the gains of the party in the last elections. They deployed strategy and resources especially Justin Kodua, such a selfless person was all out to see that voter interest was increased in Ashanti. It is my premonition that based on the performance of these privileged guys, that when they are maintained and more of their kind get fixed, the destiny of the party will not cut short in 8 years.

Having said that, i want to thank the president for the appointment of ministers such as, education, energy, agric, trade and works and housing ministers designates from Ashanti region. At least there are many agencies under these ministries and the appointment for these agencies definitely are influenced by their respective ministers. I congratulate the ministers designates from Ashanti region and pray that they get the blessings of the appointment committee and urge them to find placement for these officers in the agencies under them.
