Our ground water must be well purified for consumption – Dr. Duah

The Senior Research Scientist and Head of the Groundwater Division of the CSIR-Water Research Institute, Dr. Anthony Appiah Duah has stated that our ground water that we use domestically must be well purified.
He made this at the World Water Day celebration on the theme “Ground Water, Making The Invisible Visible”.
Speaking to Otec fm Reporter at the event, he stated that before we can use ground water safely, they must be passed through machines to make sure there is no harmful chemicals in the There are some water that look clean but carries a lot germs or harmful materials that can have effect on our health.
He said most of our farmers use chemical fertilizer for crop production where these chemicals go deep down the earth and harm our underground water.
He said sometimes the rubbish we produce also go all the way to pollute our ground water.
In an interview with the Head of Planning at the Water Resources Commission, Dr. Bob Alfa, he said told Otec fm Reporter that there is a law that guide drilling of water and it is the mandate of the Water Resources Commission to regulate such law.
He said if a company does not have a certified document for the drilling and also violate the laws, there is a penalty for that.
He continued to explain that if one breaks the law, that person may be charged a penalty of 60,000.00.
He said if you are frequent offender, your license would redrawn and you will not operate at all.
